NPSL
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is a nationally recognized men’s soccer league in the United States, with 90+ teams across the country. Founded in 2003, it is one of the longest-running development leagues in U.S. soccer.
The NPSL provides competitive opportunities for semi-professional players ages 16 and older, serving as a bridge between youth, college, and professional soccer. Each year, NPSL players advance to the professional level, with multiple alumni selected in the MLS SuperDraft.
The league is designated Tier 1 by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and earns eight qualifying berths annually into the U.S. Open Cup, the oldest soccer competition in the country.
As a proven development platform, the NPSL offers young players meaningful exposure to higher-level competition. This pathway directly supports Gio’s Lions, giving players the opportunity to gain experience, compete against older talent, and showcase their abilities at a level that often exceeds Division I NCAA soccer.

COACHING STAFF

Carlos Reyes
Carlos Reyes is the only head coach in Prairie State College history, in any sport, to win a national championship, highlighting his status as one of the premier coaches in Region IV. He led PSC to the 2022 NJCAA Division II national title with a historic run as an 11th-seed at-large team, defeating the No. 1, 2, and 4 seeds and finishing the season with his 100th career win, contributing to an overall men’s record of 103-34-3. Reyes’ tenure includes three Skyway championships, a Region IV title, multiple national tournament appearances, and a program-high No. 2 national ranking. In addition to his success at PSC, Reyes guided the Gioslions to strong results in his first two years, quickly establishing a winning culture. A former collegiate and professional player, Reyes also serves as an academic advisor, recruiter, and counselor at Prairie State, extending his impact beyond the field.
